The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially launched its first QR-based digital ID system, “Khyber Pass,” on July 9, 2025.

The system and its importance

  • QR code identification: 

Every citizen will be provided with a unique QR code, which will facilitate monitoring and access to services

  • Integration with NADRA and government data: 

The system will linked to various government databases, including NADRA. It is making the identity information of citizens available in a central digital profile

Easy access to provincial services

  • Unified services: 

Citizens will not have to visit different offices for health, education, tax, license, property, and other government services; all facilities will be provided through “Khyber Pass”

  • Ease in Corona:

Easy access to all services will possible through a single QR code, the public will relieved of queues, and the cycle of different offices

Final address and government vision

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, while addressing the ceremony, stressed:

  • Strengthening the promotion of digital governance and transparency, and also talked about providing a strong foundation for the trust and merit of citizens
  • It was stated that in the initial phase of this system, three sectoral services have been implemented, while in the future, other facilities, including health cards, will become part of the system
  • It was also mentioned that the government has benefited from about Rs 3 billion from the digitization of challans, while Rs 13 billion was saved from health card monitoring

Future goals of digitization

  • The project aims to turn the narrative of Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into reality.
  • By continuously working on this system, the provincial government intends to provide services to the people at their doorstep.

The IT department and other departments are working to expand the system that is transparent, merit-based, and emphasizes convenience

And other government documents will also included in it. This will open a new chapter in the digital revolution in the province.
